Nottingham beat Chester in Mary Rose

A Nottingham team travelled to Chester on a gloriously hot summer's day for a quarter-final match in the Mary Rose.  Chester have four lawns, with a fall of about a foot from third to first corner on each, but with a generally good playing surface and well set hoops.  Omied won his morning game quickly, going to rover and conceeding contact, but the doubles and other singles were adjourned for an excellent lunch.  Martin and Ian eventually got home in the doubles, giving us a 2-1 lead after the first round.  Omied again won quickly in the afternoon and Peter eventually gained the winning point in a  tight ending.  Martin put up a valiant fight and Ian held out for even longer, but eventually succumed to the locals.
